Liberty dollar stash & ???

Howdy folks, Yep, dear ol' Mom handed off a large stash of Liberty silver dollars to me...so I stood there stunned and amazed...
Then I realized that they're still just 1 oz. of silver.

The bulk of the coins are 1922/1923 PLus some 1921 dollars.
Many are very bright and clean.
Numismatic value better than just another 1 oz silver ASE ??
Thanks for your advice

these are called peace dollars.
they have less than 1 oz of silver each and on www.coinflation.com
you will see they are valued at about $8 each based upon melt value.
because they are in nice condition, they are probably valued at about $20 each.

It's possible some of them may have numismatic value that is well above their melt value. For instance, 1921 is a key date if those coins mentioned above are Peace dollars and not Morgans. Also, if any of the coins are MS-60 or better in condition they will have some added numismatic premium. You need to buy a book and learn to grade coins if you really want to answer your questions. If you want us to grade them for you then you will need to post very clear and detailed photos.

J son, thanks for the info.
Hmmm, 8 bucks melt or 20 bucks collector...I think I'll be selling to my coin guy and transfer funds for better "stuff" for the homestead.

Gopher, thanks I'll asset this stash for any "jewels" I'm in no hurry to sell.

APMEX buy price is $13.68 for VG-XF condition:
1922-1926 Peace Silver Dollars - (VG - XF) $13.68 $15.68

per: http://www.apmex.com/APMEXTop40/Default.aspx

Did you remember to thank your Mom? :rose:

1921 Peace dollars fetch a good price up to $100 in very good condition. The coin was weakly struck to begin with so very few are in top notch condition. Now 1921 Morgans are only worth $15 bucks

Well while I'm online here I'll add this little story...
This Thursday I went to my Doc for an annual FTF,
He's a great guy and I respect him and I appreciate his insight plus he understands the economic status of his patients....
At the end of our appointment I offered 3 of the 1924 Peace dollars in payment...
There I stood clinking these coins together explaining that is "REAL MONEY" and slowly he realized what I had to offer.

HA! He Grabbed those coins and shoved them into his pocket, then he scribbled something into my file and said to give the info to the girl up front...
Then passing the Doc on the way out he stopped and thanked me saying in was a "COOL DEAL".

Smart very smart. There was a story a while back that someone in California was asking for 50 SAE's instead of dollars for rent
